IEC 1000-3-3 : Flicker Simulation for an Industrial Blower
The "ANASIM" Software with the Flicker simulation offers the possibilities to calculate in advance the Flicker of a circuit. Today no other software can be found on the market for Flicker simulation. The "ANASIM" software is a sophisticated tool for design and test engineers.
The basis for the simulation is the time function of the apparent input power and the power factor of the EUT.

First Step:

Choose Options / Simulation / SIM to change to simulation mode

Second Step:

Enter the Power versus Time values into the table

Last Step :

Run the Flicker test as usual and you get the results like or a real measurement. Below you see the protocol as automatically generated in HTML mode.

Definitions of Abbreviations
Plt Long term Flicker over all Pst cycles

For every Pst-cycle:

Pst Short term Flicker
P50s Flicker level reached during 50% of the test time
P10s Flicker level reached during 10% of the test time
P3s Flicker level reached during 3% of the test time
P1s Flicker level reached during 1% of the test time
P0.1s Flicker level reached during 0.1% of the test time
Fli(max) Maximum Flicker level during test time

General :
- The values marked with "***" are actual values which could vary
during test-time and are taken at the time of protocol printout.

Notes
Flicker Simulation of a 2000VA Fan
----------------------------------

The Fan is switched on for 15 seconds every 30 seconds.
A high start-up current of more than 200% causes a high Flicker Level.

- choose : Options / Simulation / SIM for the simulation mode.
- Close the simulation window and run the test as in normal measuring mode.
- You will get a Pst and Plt of around 1.90

To get a lower Flicker Level you can reduce the start-up current for
example with an electronic softstart device.

The example "Fan2.hrp" shows the same Fan with a softstart electronic.
